Andras Schiff returned to the Proms for a late night recital of JS Bach's Well Tempered Clavier, Book I. His execution was masterly and this master pianist's reputation as a standard bearer of this music was upheld beyond doubt.

From the opening two sets of preludes and fugues from Book I of Bach's The Well-Tempered Clavier, it was clear that while Pierre-Laurent Aimard possesses the technical skill to perform this music, he lacks some style.

András Schiff was one of the first pianists of the digital era to record the complete works of Bach, back in the 1980s. Now, older and wiser, Schiff is embarking upon a tour demonstrating how far his interpretations have progressed over nearly three decades.
