Welcome to the Teatro de la Maestranza, a lyrical and musical theatre which, since 1991, has led the way for opera in the south of Europe. It is located in the city where Figaro, Carmen and Don Giovanni wandered. These legendary characters are some of the stars in more than 150 opera librettos set in Sevilla. It is no wonder that Sevilla has been proclaimed internationally as the «city of opera».
The Teatro de la Maestranza offers a full subscription season. It is at the forefront of Andalusia's cultural activities and belongs to a group of Spanish opera houses with international prestige. Opera, symphonic concerts, soloist recitals, international stars, classical ballet, modern dance, flamenco and chamber music all make up a varied programme which is enthusiastically applauded by audiences and critics alike. We encourage you to look at the different series in our extensive programme and we are confident you will find a show of interest to yourself and your family.
The Theatre is run by a consortium of the Ministerio de Cultura, the Junta de Andalucía, the Diputación Provincial and the Ayuntamiento de Sevilla. A large number of businesses and private donors, and you, our loyal audience, also back our artistic project.
Situated on the banks of the magical Guadalquivir River, in the heart of the city of Sevilla, surrounded by incomparable tourist attractions and gastronomical possibilities, the Teatro de la Maestranza awaits you. You are encouraged to experience the passion of opera, the ultimate expression in art, right here in beautiful Sevilla.
