Musikführer zu den Göteborger Symphonikern

Find Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra events
« The flow and conviction of the interpretation was compelling – Saraste’s mastery in Sibelius is hardly a surprise. Nor is the calibre of the orchestra Sibelius himself often visited to conduct, this symphony given at his first GSO concert. »
Roy Westbrook, 18 September 2020, Bachtrack

The Gothenburg Symphony (Göteborgs Symfoniker) was founded in 1905, and now numbers 109 players. The orchestra gives around 100 concerts annually in the Gothenburg Concert Hall, renowned for its fine architecture and excellent acoustics. In recognition of the orchestra’s role as an ambassador of Swedish music, as well as its high artistic level, the GSO was appointed to The National Orchestra of Sweden in 1997. During Neeme Järvi's leadership from 1982 to 2004, the orchestra became a major international force, touring around the world and making celebrated recordings. Gustavo Dudamel continued that successful journey as Principal Conductor 2007-2012, and is now Honorary Conductor. Principal Guest Conductor designate is Kent Nagano. Chief conductor of The Gothenburg Symphony is Santtu-Matias Rouvali.
