There are two divisions in the Voice 2022 competition: Aria and Art Song. Eligible singers may choose to apply to compete in either one or both divisions.
- Singers applying to compete in the Aria division must perform works from the repertoire composed for voice and orchestra (opera, oratorio, cantata, mass, concert arias, orchestral songs cycles, etc.).
- Singers applying to compete in the Art Song division must perform from the repertoire composed for voice and piano (French art song, German lied, etc.).

Application process is taking place until December 15, 2021. A preliminary selection committee, appointed by the CMIM, will review and evaluate the audition videos: A maximum of 32 singers (20 for Aria and 12 for Art Song) will be selected. Selected singers, as well as all other registered candidates, will be notified of the preliminary selection results by February 15, 2022, at the very latest.
First round will take place on May 31 and June 1, 2022 with a total of 32 recitals (voice and piano) and will be presented in the Bourgie Hall of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. The jury will audition all the competitors of the two sections:
- ART SONG: The semi-final (six singers, on June 3, 2022) and the final round (three singers, on June 5, 2022) will also take place at the Bourgie Hall.
- ARIA: The semi-final (ten singers, on June 6 & 7, 2022) and the final round (five singers, on June 9, 2022) will be held at the Maison symphonique with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM).

More than Can$ 220,000 in prizes and awards will be awarded to the laureates and winners of the Voix 2022.

- additional prizes and awards open to all competitors, valued at Can$ 70,000.
Voice 2022 competitors will receive beneficial advice from a world-class jury, perform with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and attend masterclasses.
Chaired by seasoned cultural manager Zarin Mehta, the jury of Voice 2022 will be made up of eight prestigious members:

Founded in 2001, the Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM) is one of the world’s most highly regarded classical music competitions, and is one of the only annual international competitions in North America to present three disciplines (voice, violin, piano) in a three-year rotation. With the mandate of promoting classical music through the discovery of new talent in an international competition context, the CMIM also serves as a stepping stone for young musicians from around the world who wish to pursue an international performing career.
Following a preliminary step (based on video recordings), the CMIM invites 24 of the most talented young musicians in the world to compete in Montreal. The Competition consists of three rounds: First, semifinal, and final. Recital rounds are held at Salle Bourgie (Montreal, Canada) while concert rounds with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal are held at Maison symphonique. The candidates go through a unique experience by taking part in the CMIM: they receive beneficial advice from an international jury made up of leading figures on the music scene, perform with an orchestra of the caliber of the OSM, they attend master classes, form friendships, discover Montreal and its welcoming ambiance, and share over $150,000 in prizes and grants.
