Händel and Bach - cantatas and arias
Arias from operas and cantatas (sacred and secular). Other pieces from German and Italian Baroque are welcome.

In addition to individual classes, students of the singing masterclass will also have the opportunity to participate in György Vashegyi's chamber music masterclass and to take part in the orchestral workshop, prepared from Handel arias from the list below:

Soprano: 

  • Ombre pallide (Alcina, HWV 34) 
  • Morte vieni (Riccardo I, ré d’Inghilterra, HWV 23) 
  • Qual farfalletta gira a quel lume (Partenope, HWV 27)  

Mezzo-Soprano/Alto: 

  • New Scenes of Joy (Theodora, HWV 68) 
  • Hence, Iris, hence away (Semele, HWV 58) 

Tenor: 

  • While Kedron’s Brook (Joshua, HWV 64)
  • Like Clouds, stormy Winds them impelling (The Triumph of Time and Truth, HWV 71) 

Baritone/Bass: 

  • Sorge infausta una procella (Orlando, HWV 31) 
  • But who may abide the Day of his coming – original version for bass (Messiah, HWV 56) 

ℹ You can choose one or more pieces from the list. 

At the end of the second day of lessons, the professors will select the 3 most successfully prepared singers who will get the opportunity to actively participate in the orchestral workshop and perform one of the above arias at the final concert. 

Chamber music:
We will inform you about the schedule and repertoire of the chamber music masterclass after the application deadline (or until 31 May).  

György Vashegyi, the professor of the chamber music masterclass, will select at the end of the last teaching day the 6 chamber music groups that will have the opportunity to perform at the final concert on 8 July.

2–7 July 2023, between 10:00 and 17:30 

Orchestral rehearsals: 

  • 4 July 2023, between 18:00 and 19:30
  • 5 July 2023, between 18:00 and 19:30
  • 6 July 2023, between 18:00 and 19:30 

Registration:
1 July 2023, between 10:00 and 18:00 

Attachments to be submitted for active participation: 

  • CV 
  • An unedited HD-quality video (5–10 mins) on which the applicant is performing a piece of choice 

Fee for participants: 

  • Participation Fee for active participants: €250 
  • Participation Fee for passive participants: €70
  • Application Fee: €30
  • Single daily fee (for passive participants only): €20
