Nuovo barocco |
The extraordinary Brazilian singer Bruno de Sá has in the meantime become a shooting star on the international Baroque scene; and the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival can no longer be imagined without him after his sensational interpretation of Cleofide in Alessandro nell’Indie in 2022. His pellucid soprano timbre and natural facility in mastering all heights and coloratura have astounded the press and public alike throughout the world. He presents a solo programme that is astutely compiled in its dramatic diversity, forging a way to surprising contexts in the music of the Baroque era.
In this concert he introduces us to male and female operatic figures from the Neapolitan School. Many important educational institutions for young musicians were being established in Naples from the second half of the seventeenth century onwards; and many of these students advanced to take their place among the leading exponents of Italian Opera. Especially the clarity and buoyancy of the Neapolitan compositional style had a considerable influence on the history of opera. Bruno de Sá and the ensemble nuovo barocco under Dimitris Karakantas will present to us a wide-ranging cross-section of Baroque Naples, with arias by the best talents of the era.
Shuttle included: Departure at 06.15 p.m. Wölfelstr. 4 at the Iwalewahaus (approx. 50 metres from the Opera House)
