The princesses and princes of the Baroque era were experts at holding court with brilliance and magnificence. This didn’t only involve opulently decorated and furnished palaces and extravagant attire and wigs, but above all luxuriously decked tables and uplifting music as well. We are extending a traditionally Baroque invitation to you to come to the Orangery in the Bayreuth Hermitage for an exquisite dinner and in conclusion attend a concert worthy of this tradition in the Sun Temple.
Maayan Licht, a brilliant performer in last year’s Festival in the title role of Alessandro nell’Indie, joins forces with harpsichordist Guy Maori to present easy-listening arias by two of the greatest composers of the eighteenth century. Whether in the passionate “Un pensiero nemico di pace” from Il trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno, or the poignant and meditative “Lascia ch’io pianga” from Rinaldo – in the concert lasting about half an hour we experience the nuanced diversity of George Frideric Handel’s enormous repertoire of affective emotion, complemented by the melancholy and dreamy “Zeffiretti che sussurrate” from Antonio Vivaldi’s pasticcio opera Ercole su’l Termodonte.
Shuttle included: Departure at 07.45 p.m. Wölfelstr. 4 at the Iwalewahaus (approx. 50 metres from the Opera House)
