Stefan Jackiw | Violon |
Alisa Weilerstein | Violoncelle |
Daniil Trifonov | Piano |
One of the great chamber music events of the New York City season! Three of the world’s most revered musicians – violinist Stefan Jackiw, cellist Alisa Weilerstein, and pianist Daniil Trifonov – join for their first-ever NYC appearance as a trio.
Their gorgeous, thoughtfully crafted program invites each musician’s brilliance to be on full display: Jackiw and Trifonov open the program with Lutoslawki’s Partita – a fascinating 1984 work with a nod to Baroque keyboard music. The thrillingly matched duo of Weilerstein and Trifonov perform Rachmaninoff’s rapturous Sonata for Cello and Piano. And the three musicians come together in the program’s second half for Tchaikovsky’s epic, nearly symphonic A-Minor Piano Trio. Filled with bravura passages, moody tender beauty, and a heart-wrenching finale, it’s a spectacular showcase for this trio of premier musicians.
Concert available for viewing online for 72 hours from time of broadcast.
